The Management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) is pleased to formally announce the Matriculation Ceremony for the current academic session. This prestigious event is specially organized for new students admitted into the following specialized academic pathways:
- Top-Up Degree Programmes
- Open & Distance Learning Centre (ODLC)
- School of Professional Studies (SPS)
The Matriculation Ceremony represents the official induction of new students into the FUTA community. It is a solemn and mandatory rite of passage during which matriculants will take the oath of allegiance to the University’s statutes, academic regulations, and its core philosophy of “Technology for Self-Reliance.”
I. EVENT DETAILS
Date: Tuesday, 14th April 2026 Time: 10:00 AM Prompt Venue: T.I. Francis Auditorium, FUTA Main Campus, Akure
All matriculating students, members of the University community, and invited guests are expected to observe the schedule strictly.
II. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR MATRICULANTS
To ensure the dignity and success of this historic occasion, all students must comply with the following:
- Academic Regalia: Every matriculant must be properly attired in the official FUTA academic gown. Gowns are to be collected from the respective programme coordination offices upon presentation of evidence of payment and full registration.
- Punctuality: Students must be seated in the T.I. Francis Auditorium not later than 9:30 AM (30 minutes before the ceremony commences) to allow for an orderly academic procession.
- Matriculation Oath: Signing the Matriculation Register and taking the Oath of Allegiance is compulsory. Any student who fails to participate fully or sign the register will forfeit his or her student status and will not be eligible to receive academic results or transcripts.
III. DIRECTIVES TO THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY
- Academic Procession: Members of the University Senate, Directors of Centres, Deans, and academic staff are requested to assemble at the designated point for the academic procession by 9:45 AM.
- Guests and Protocol: Parents, guardians, and other guests are cordially invited but must remain in the designated gallery sections to preserve the solemnity and order of the proceedings.
- Security and Parking: All attendees are advised to cooperate fully with the University security personnel during screening at the gates and to adhere strictly to designated parking arrangements to ensure smooth traffic flow on campus.
IV. POST-CEREMONY ACTIVITIES
Immediately after the formal ceremony, students may be required to participate in brief orientation sessions or group photographs as directed by their respective Schools or Centres. Students are advised to liaise with their programme coordinators for specific post-matriculation instructions.
