The Management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is pleased to announce the formal ratification of the schedule for the 30th Matriculation Ceremony, which will officially induct all newly admitted students for the 2026_1 Academic Semester.
This historic event remains a statutory and compulsory rite of passage for every fresh student across the University’s wide network of study centres nationwide. It formally marks your acceptance into the NOUN academic community and the beginning of your journey as a bonafide student of the institution.
In line with NOUN’s commitment to innovation and its digital-first approach to Open and Distance Learning (ODL), the 30th Matriculation Ceremony will be conducted through a centralized virtual platform. This format ensures full inclusivity, allowing every matriculating student, regardless of location, to participate seamlessly.
CEREMONY DETAILS
- Date: Wednesday, 8th April 2026
- Venue: Virtual (via a centralized broadcast platform)
- Participation: All matriculating students are required to be physically present at their respective Study Centres or join via the official weblink that will be provided.
The official link and exact broadcast time will be communicated in due course to all Study Centre Directors for onward dissemination to students.
MANDATORY ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
In preparation for the matriculation and to ensure a smooth transition into the university’s unique learning environment, a compulsory Orientation Programme has been scheduled as follows:
- Date: Tuesday, 7th April 2026
- Venue: Respective Study Centres
The orientation will provide essential guidance on critical areas such as:
- Course registration procedures
- Submission of Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMA)
- Examination rules and regulations
- Effective use of the iLearn portal and other learning platforms
All new students are strongly advised to attend this orientation as it will equip them with the knowledge needed to navigate their studies successfully.
DIRECTIVES TO STUDY CENTRE DIRECTORS
The University Management hereby directs all Study Centre Directors to ensure the following for a hitch-free ceremony:
- Technical Preparedness: Confirm that high-speed internet facilities, projectors, and public address systems at the centres are fully functional for the virtual broadcast on 8th April.
- Matriculation Gowns: Make adequate arrangements for the timely distribution and subsequent collection of academic gowns to students who have fully paid their required fees.
- Documentation: Ensure that every matriculating student signs the Matriculation Register immediately after the virtual oath-taking session. This remains the final official step in formalizing their studentship.
