The Management of the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Shika-Zaria, is pleased to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Nursing Sciences for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.
This advanced programme is specifically designed for registered nursing professionals who wish to deepen their clinical expertise, enhance their leadership capabilities, and advance their academic and professional standing within Nigeria’s dynamic healthcare system.
CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet the following strict criteria:
- Professional Qualification: Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) or hold a combined RN/RM certificate.
- Regulatory Compliance: Must be currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and possess a valid, up-to-date practicing license.
- Academic Qualification: Minimum of five (5) credits in O’Level examinations (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.
STEP-BY-STEP ONLINE APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications are strictly online via the official ABUTH portal. Candidates are advised to follow the steps below carefully:
Phase 1: Profile Creation
- Visit the official application portal: https://abuth.gov.ng/apply
- Click on SIGNUP and create your personal profile. Ensure you safely keep your Login ID and Password.
- Navigate to “Check Forms on Sale” or “Apply Here”, locate the HND Nursing Sciences programme, and click APPLY.
Phase 2: Payment
- Generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) number.
- Option A (Online Payment): Pay instantly using MasterCard, Visa, or Internet Banking.
- Option B (Bank Payment): Print the Remita slip and make payment at any commercial bank nationwide.
Phase 3: Form Completion and Submission
- Log back into your portal account.
- Complete your Biodata, upload your O’Level (and A’Level if applicable) results, and a recent passport photograph.
- Review all entries, then click SUBMIT APPLICATION.
- Accept the terms and conditions and finalize your submission.
SELECTION PROCESS AND FEES
The admission process is highly competitive and merit-based, consisting of the following stages:
- CBT Examination Fee: A non-refundable sum of ₦2,000.00 must be paid separately via Remita (www.remita.net). Select Pay TSA → FGN → AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL → School Fees.
- Screening Stages: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by an Oral Selection Interview.
- Medical Fitness: Final admission offers are subject to successful completion of a medical fitness examination conducted at ABUTH Shika or Tudun Wada.
Tentative CBT Date: Thursday, 7th May 2026
