The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, has graciously approved a two-week postponement of the First Semester Examinations for the 2025/2026 Academic Session. This thoughtful adjustment has been made to allow adequate time for all necessary academic and administrative preparations to be perfectly completed, ensuring a smooth and successful examination period for every student.
REVISED EXAMINATION TIMELINE
Students and staff of Abia State University (ABSU) should kindly take note of the updated schedule:
- Original Commencement Date: Monday, 27th April, 2026
- New Commencement Date: Monday, 11th May, 2026
All Provosts, Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments are kindly requested to align their faculty and departmental plans with this new timeline.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ELIGIBILITY
The University Senate wishes to remind all students that only duly registered and bonafide students will be permitted to sit for the examinations. To ensure eligibility, the following must be fully satisfied:
- Fee Payment: Complete settlement of all prescribed tuition and departmental fees.
- Course Registration: Proper registration of all courses on the university portal within the stipulated period.
ATTENDANCE POLICY ENFORCEMENT
Please note that the Senate’s policy on lecture attendance remains firmly in place. The mandatory 75% minimum attendance requirement will be strictly enforced. Students who do not meet this threshold will unfortunately not be allowed to write the affected courses.
A KIND WORD TO OUR STUDENTS
This two-week extension is a golden opportunity for all matriculated and returning students to engage in focused, intensive revision and to promptly resolve any outstanding registration or clearance issues. We encourage you to make the very best use of this extra time to prepare confidently for your examinations.
Ensure you have your exam dockets, receipts, and all necessary documents ready well before the new commencement date.
Please be guided accordingly.
