Bayero University, Kano (BUK) reached a significant milestone on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as it officially inducted 149 newly qualified medical professionals into the Nigerian healthcare sector. The ceremony, held at the Convocation Arena, New Campus, marked the 10th induction for Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and the 24th for Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) graduates.
The Professional Charge
The Registrar and Chief Executive of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Fatima Kyari, administered the Hippocratic Oath to the 131 medical doctors and 18 dentists. In her address, she lauded the inductees for their resilience in navigating a rigorous academic and clinical curriculum.
“Uphold the highest ethics of your profession,” Kyari charged the new practitioners. “The integrity of your license is a sacred trust that must be protected at all times.”
Institutional Pride
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development), Professor Amina Mustapha, described the induction as a proud moment for the university. She commended the Faculties of Clinical Sciences and Dentistry for cultivating graduates who embody the institution’s values of “character and learning,” urging the doctors to serve as ambassadors of excellence in their future practices.
