The Management of Benue State University, through the Directorate of Academic Affairs, is delighted to announce the 33rd Matriculation Ceremony for all newly admitted undergraduate students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This historic ceremony formally welcomes our fresh students into the vibrant academic community of the University, marking the beginning of their journey toward excellence, knowledge, and lifelong achievement.
I. Ceremony Details Date: Wednesday, 22nd April, 2026 Time: 9:00 a.m. (Academic Procession commences promptly at 10:00 a.m.) Venue: New Convocation Square
II. Pre-Matriculation Orientation Programme A mandatory orientation has been thoughtfully arranged to equip our new students with vital information on university life, academic regulations, campus culture, and ethical standards.
Dates: Monday, 20th and Tuesday, 21st April, 2026 Venue: New Convocation Square
Note: These two days, together with Matriculation Day (22nd April), are lecture-free for all fresh undergraduate students to enable full and active participation.
III. Collection and Return of Academic Gowns Fresh students are required to collect academic gowns for the ceremony as follows:
- Payment: A non-refundable fee of ₦2,000.00 should be paid into any of the designated banks: Fidelity Bank Plc:Account No. 5030023693 Zenith Bank: Account No. 1011136506
- Collection: Begins on Friday, 17th April, 2026. Present your bank teller/receipt to your Faculty Officer to collect the gown.
- Return Deadline: All gowns must be returned to the respective Faculty Officers on or before Friday, 1st May, 2026. A late return penalty of ₦500.00 per day will be charged and paid to the Bursary Department.
IV. Mandatory Downloads All matriculating students are required to visit the University Portal (www.bsum.edu.ng) and download the following important documents:
- The Matriculation Oath
- The University Anthem
These documents must be printed and brought along to both the Orientation Programme and the Matriculation Ceremony.
V. Directives to Staff and Senate
- Senate Members: Kindly assemble at the New Convocation Square by 9:00 a.m. for the academic procession. Academic gowns for Senate members should be collected on their behalf by a designated staff from the Academic Office.
- Deans and Heads of Departments: Please ensure that all qualified candidates in your departments are properly registered by cross-checking the list provided by the Directorate of ICT.
- Principal Officers, Senate Members, and Heads of Units: Your esteemed participation in the academic procession is highly requested.
