The Management of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), through the Office of the Deputy Rector (Academics), wishes to issue this high-priority update concerning the ongoing registration process for the 2025/2026 Academic Session.
In an internal memorandum dated March 27, 2026, the College expressed concern over the number of HND I students who are yet to complete their academic registration and documentation. To protect the integrity of academic records and ensure that only duly registered (bona fide) students are recognized, the College has introduced immediate and strict measures regarding lecture attendance and participation.
NEW ATTENDANCE PROTOCOL: “NO MATRIC NUMBER, NO ATTENDANCE”
Effective immediately, the College has moved from temporary identification to permanent statutory records. The following rules now apply across all departments and schools:
- Matriculation Numbers Only: Only students who have fully completed their registration and been issued an official Matriculation Number will be allowed to sign attendance registers during lectures.
- Termination of Temporary Numbers: The use of temporary “YCT Numbers” (application or screening numbers) for any academic purpose, including attendance and continuous assessment, has been discontinued and is no longer valid.
- Strict Enforcement: Deans of Schools, Heads of Departments (HODs), and all Lecturers have been directed to rigorously enforce these guidelines. Any attendance signed with a temporary YCT number will be declared null and void.

This directive applies to the entire College community and affects all academic units, including:

- School of Engineering
- School of Management & Business Studies
- School of Science
- School of Environmental Studies
- School of Arts, Design & Printing

URGENT CALL TO ACTION FOR HND I STUDENTS
The Management strongly urges all HND I students who are yet to complete their registration to treat this matter as a matter of utmost priority. Failure to obtain your official Matriculation Number and appear on the approved attendance register may result in the following consequences:
- Inability to meet the minimum attendance requirement for examination clearance.
- Risk of being flagged as “inactive” or “withdrawn” in the College’s central database.
- Potential loss of academic progress for the semester.
To avoid any disruption to your studies, students are advised to immediately finalize all pending registration processes.
HOW TO PROCEED
Visit the Admissions Office or the ICT Centre without delay to resolve any outstanding issues, complete your documentation, and obtain your official Matriculation Number.
