Important Notice to Students and Staff
The Management of Delta State University of Science and Technology (DSUST) wishes to inform all students and staff of the following:
1. Availability of Hostel Accommodation
University hostel facilities are now open for occupancy for the upcoming semester.
All students, especially those currently residing off-campus, are encouraged to apply for on-campus accommodation. The hostels are equipped with functional toilets and basic furnishings to provide a safe, comfortable, and conducive living environment.
Key Details:
- Only half payment of the hostel accommodation fee is required for this semester.
- Interested students should visit the Office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs to obtain the hostel application form and complete the necessary procedures.
- Early application is strongly advised to secure preferred rooms and ensure smooth allocation.
Living on campus offers students easy access to academic facilities, reduced commuting time, greater participation in university activities, and a stronger sense of community.
2. Policy on Further Studies for Non-Academic Staff
The University Management has observed that some non-academic staff apply for further studies shortly after employment. This practice is contrary to the institution’s regulations.
New Directive: Non-academic staff must have served the University for a minimum of seven (7) years before they can be granted approval for further studies.
- This policy does not apply to Academic Staff.
- Qualifications obtained without approval will not be recognized for promotion, upgrading, or salary increment.
- Staff whose studies were already approved before this notice may continue without interruption.
All non-academic staff are advised to strictly comply with this policy. Applications for further studies will only be considered after the mandatory seven-year service period.
General Advice
Students are urged to complete their hostel applications promptly. Non-academic staff should plan their professional development in line with this directive and seek clarification from the Office of Human Resources if needed.
