Welcome to the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin-Ekiti! We are thrilled to announce the formal induction of our inaugural class. This Maiden Matriculation Ceremony is a landmark event for our institution, established by the Federal Government to drive innovation in technology and environmental sciences in Nigeria.
The ceremony will officially welcome the pioneer students of the 2025/2026 Academic Session. It is a formal “rite of passage” where students take the matriculation oath, committing to uphold the values of the university and pursue academic excellence with integrity.
The university has finalized all arrangements for the matriculation ceremony, ensuring a memorable experience for the new students and their families:

All students, parents, and guests are kindly requested to be seated by 10:30 AM to allow for the academic procession of the Vice-Chancellor and Senate members.
Understanding the Terms
In the Nigerian university system, it’s crucial to distinguish between two key events:
Matriculation: This ceremony formally welcomes new students at the start of their academic journey.
Convocation: This event celebrates the graduation of students who have completed their degrees.
As the pioneer students, your academic path begins with matriculation, and your convocation will take place in four to five years, upon successful completion of your studies.
Guidelines for Pioneer Students
To ensure a smooth ceremony, please follow these instructions:
Academic Attire: Matriculation gowns are required for all participating students. Collect yours from your Faculty Officer, starting Monday, February 23, 2026.
Dress Code: Wear formal corporate attire under your gown. This includes suits or dress shirts with ties for men and modest corporate wear for women.
Registration: Only students who have completed physical clearance and online course registration on the FUTES portal can sign the matriculation register.
Oath of Matriculation: This is a legal document. Sign and return the oath form to your Faculty Officer immediately after the ceremony to finalize your student records.
