NUC APPROVES 12 NEW UNDERGRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR SA’ADU ZUNGUR UNIVERSITY (SAZU)
Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) has achieved another significant milestone following the approval of twelve (12) new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The approval, conveyed in a letter dated June 15, 2026, followed a successful resource verification exercise conducted by the Commission. The exercise confirmed the University’s readiness in terms of academic personnel, physical infrastructure, library resources, and essential facilities required for the commencement of the programmes.
The newly approved programmes, scheduled to take off in the 2026/2027 academic session, are:

Vice-Chancellor’s Remarks
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, described the approval as a major breakthrough that underscores the University’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and the expansion of its academic horizons.
Professor Tahir expressed deep appreciation to the NUC for its confidence in the University’s capacity to host the new programmes. She also extended her profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State and Visitor to the University, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, for his unwavering support and dedication to the advancement of higher education in the State.
Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor commended the Governing Council, Senate, Management, and both academic and non-academic staff for their dedication, noting that this achievement is a testament to institutional teamwork and collective effort.
She assured prospective students, parents, and stakeholders that the University remains committed to deploying all necessary human and material resources to ensure the successful implementation of these programmes, in strict compliance with NUC quality assurance standards.
