Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja (formerly University of Abuja) Opens Applications for Specialized Postgraduate Programmes in Reproductive Health – 2025/2026 Session
Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, is pleased to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for its cutting-edge postgraduate programmes in the College of Health Sciences. These programmes are offered through a strategic collaboration between the Institute of Reproductive Health (IRH) and the Institute of Medical Sciences Africa (IMSA), focusing on advanced training, innovative research, and practical expertise in reproductive medicine, assisted reproductive technologies (ART), and related laboratory sciences.
This initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to building world-class capacity in reproductive health, addressing Nigeria’s healthcare needs, and fostering excellence in medical innovation.
Programmes Available
- MSc in Reproductive Physiology and Assisted Reproductive Technology
- MSc in Clinical Embryology
- PGD in Andrology
- PGD in Cryopreservation of Gametes and Embryos
- PGD in Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
These specialized programmes blend rigorous theoretical instruction with hands-on laboratory training, preparing graduates to lead in fertility clinics, research institutions, IVF centers, and academic settings.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for admission, applicants must satisfy the following:
- O’Level Requirements: Minimum of five (5) credit passes (including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) in WAEC, NECO, or GCE, obtained in no more than two sittings.
- For Medical Professionals: MBBS degree plus at least four (4) years of post-qualification experience; full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). Preference will be given to candidates who have passed Part 1 or Part 2 of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or West African College of Surgeons, especially those practicing in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- For Non-Medical Applicants: Holders of B.Sc. (Hons) in Natural Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Biomedical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS), or equivalent qualifications are eligible for IRH/IMSA programmes.

- Complete the online application form accurately and upload all required documents (certificates, credentials, NYSC certificate where applicable, etc.).

- Submit proof of the transcript request with your application.
