The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is delighted to announce its 15th Convocation Ceremony, proudly scheduled for April 17–18, 2026. This landmark event, as communicated by the University Registrar, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi, will celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of thousands of graduands who have excelled through the university’s innovative open and distance learning (ODL) system.
The ceremony underscores NOUN’s enduring mission to democratize quality higher education, empowering diverse learners—including working professionals, remote residents, and those balancing family commitments—to achieve their academic aspirations.
Highlights of the Programme

Pre-Convocation Lecture Date: Friday, April 17, 2026 Time: 11:00 a.m. Venue: Conference Centre, NOUN Headquarters, Jabi, Abuja
The distinguished lecture will be delivered by Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN, CON, a renowned legal luminary, former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. His address is anticipated to offer profound insights on key issues in education, law, governance, and national development, inspiring academics, policymakers, students, and guests alike.

Main Convocation Ceremony Date: Saturday, April 18, 2026 Time: 10:00 a.m. Venue: Convocation Arena, NOUN Headquarters, Jabi, Abuja
The grand event will feature the conferment of degrees—from bachelor’s to doctoral levels—along with prestigious honorary doctorates awarded to exceptional individuals for their outstanding contributions to society and Nigeria’s progress.
Participation Arrangements
To accommodate its nationwide reach and large graduating cohort, NOUN will conduct the ceremony in a hybrid format:
- Physical Attendance (at the Abuja Convocation Arena): Reserved for select groups, including First-Class honorees, award recipients, Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s, PhD graduands, and honorary degree recipients. These participants are kindly requested to arrive and be seated by 9:00 a.m. to facilitate a seamless programme.
- Decentralized Participation: All other bachelor’s degree graduands will join virtually or through coordinated activities at their respective state capital study centres, ensuring inclusive celebration aligned with NOUN’s flexible, nationwide ODL model.
Certificate Collection
Certificates will be available for immediate collection shortly after the ceremony:
- At the NOUN Headquarters in Abuja (for eligible categories), or
- At respective state capital study centres (for most graduands).
Graduands from FCT-based study centres should collect theirs specifically at the Abuja Model Study Centre, Kubwa. Please bring required identification and clearance documents.
