The University’s Management and Senate have decided to adjust the academic calendar for the upcoming First Semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session (including the 2024/2025 backlog). Originally set to begin on February 23, 2026, the exams will now start two weeks later.
This decision comes after a thorough review of the current status of student affairs. The goal is to ensure that all students are fully prepared and no one is disadvantaged due to incomplete registration or missing documentation. The University is committed to a fair and organized assessment process, and this postponement provides a final opportunity for everyone to meet all necessary requirements.
Important Notice: Revised Examination Timeline and Easter Break Schedule for the Upcoming Academic Period
We’re updating the academic calendar, so here’s the revised examination timeline. Please take note of the new dates to help you plan and prepare effectively:
New Commencement Date: Monday, 9th March 2026.
Examination Conclusion Date: Saturday, 25th April 2026.
Easter Break Schedule
In observance of the Easter holiday, we’ve included a short break within the revised schedule. The university community should take note of the following:
Break Starts: Thursday, 2nd April 2026.
Break Ends: Monday, 6th April 2026.
Resumption of Examinations: Tuesday, 7th April 2026.
This break is designed to give students a chance to rest and focus on intensive revision for the remaining exams in the latter part of the examination period. We encourage everyone to use this time wisely!
Why the Examination Schedule Has Been Adjusted: A Strategic Overview
The University Senate has approved the rescheduling to address key areas of student readiness and ensure smooth administrative processes. This proactive step aims to prevent potential issues during the examination period. Here’s why:
1. Course Registration Completion: Many students still need to finalize their online course registration. Without this, students won’t be on the official attendance register, and their results can’t be processed. The extension gives everyone time to resolve portal issues and update their academic records.
2. Fresh Student Documentation: New students are currently completing physical screening and departmental documentation. This includes verifying results, admission letters, and creating permanent files. The rescheduling gives them the time they need to finish these processes without exam pressure.
3. University ID Card Issuance: Remember, your University ID card is required to enter the exam hall. The postponement allows the ICT Directorate to speed up the production and distribution of ID cards for students who have completed their biometric data capture.
Directives to Students and Faculty Staff
In light of this development, the University expects a high level of cooperation from all members of the community to ensure that the new dates are strictly adhered to.

For Students: This two-week extension should not be treated as a holiday but as a period for intensive revision. Students are urged to visit the ICT center or their respective Faculty Offices to resolve any lingering registration or ID card issues before the new start date of March 9th.

For Academic Staff: Heads of Departments and Faculty Officers are directed to use this window to finalize the collation of Continuous Assessment (CA) scores. All CA results must be uploaded and verified on the portal before the commencement of the main examinations.

For the Examination Taskforce: The taskforce is mandated to intensify preparations for venue allocation and invigilation rosters, ensuring that the two-week shift is reflected across all departmental notice boards.
